Welcome to the new home page of Burtonweather.com (Stanton Station) My weather station is set-up in a semi rural garden in the village of Stanton, South Derbyshire, two miles from Burton upon Trent, three miles from the small town of Swadlincote, Midlands, England in the United Kingdom. Altitude: 74 meters A.M.S.L. Latitude 52o 47’ N, Longitude 1o 36’W.
The position is moderately sheltered to the northeast by hedges and trees, which border open fields.
On my site you will find detailed information on local weather, i.e. daily, weekly and monthly reports and historical data which can be found the archives.
I also produce a daily weather forecast and an outlook for the Burton-on Trent district and surrounding area.
My interest with the weather goes way back to the 1960’s when I was just a young boy. I think maybe it was the very harsh winter of 1962-63 which sparked my interest, although I am interested in all aspects of the weather, I have a love for cold weather and snow in the wintertime, sadly for me, something that has been more difficult to come by during recent years, though the winter of 2009, just gone, did give everyone a small reminder that the UK can still be cold and snowy.
