Rain Gauge
The site incorporates equipment, which meets Met Office specifications, the Stevenson Screen (shown opposite) holds the sheathed maximum, minimum, dry bulb and wet bulb thermometers, from which the humidity and dew point figures are calculated.
Other equipment includes a grass minimum thermometer, anemometer, a rain gauge, which has a copper collector with a separate MO pattern glass-measuring jar.
An Oregon Scientific WMR 928 Professional automatic Weather Station (AWS) is also in full operation at this site, which continually uploads live data to the Internet.
Occasionally slight corrections may be made to the data on the AWS, this done to match the data recorded from the MO standard instruments.
